Approximately 30 first through sixth grade students participated in a week long “Summer Art Club” in the middle of August last year at Newhope Elementary School. During the Summer Art Club, these students worked with Newhope special education teacher and art enthusiast, Maria Livieratos. Under her guidance, the students created five paintings of subjects such as guitars, sharks, and trees. They learned artistic concepts such as texture, perspective, and color mixing while using different materials such as acrylics, canvas, and wood to create their artwork. We are excited to continue to enrich our curriculum throughout this school year by offering a variety of classes in the arts during the school day and after school for students at Newhope Elementary.
